Hiawatha

Hiawatha is a webserver for Unix. It has been writting with 'being secure' as its main goal. Hiawatha has many security features no other webserver has and a lot of attention has been given to writing secure code. This makes Hiawatha the most secure webserver available. I hereby challenge every visitor of this website to find a security-bug in the Hiawatha webserver.

Compile and run tests of Hiawatha have successfully been done on Debian, Ubuntu, Gentoo, Fedora, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, MacOS X, Solaris and Cygwin. It's very likely that Hiawatha will compile and run on other Unix-clones as well.

A package/port is available for the following operating systems: ArchLinux, Debian, Fedora, FreeBSD, MacOS X, OpenBSD, SUSE and Windows.

Unlike Apache, Hiawatha is very easy to configure. It's also a very secure and fast webserver. It has everything a modern webserver needs: rootjail, run CGIs under any uid/gid you want, SSL support, URL rewriting, prevention of SQL injection and cross-site scripting, banning of clients who try such exploits and many more. It makes Hiawatha an interesting webserver for those who need more security than what the other available webservers are offering. Hiawatha also supports loadbalanced FastCGI for extra speed. You want to upload files to your webserver? No problem for Hiawatha. Since 5.9, the PUT and DELETE HTTP methods have been implemented in a controllable and secure way. And with the IPv6 support in 6.0, Hiawatha is ready for the future.
